For this 5th exposure, we went conduct a house to house survey to assess the improvement of the families regarding our 5 community health problems, namely: Toilet, Water, Waste, Hypertension, and Malnutrition. Beforehand, we printed out a small survey for us to use as well as a list of reminders of the activities we’ll be having for the month.
We followed up the status of sanity toilets among the families and assessing the families of those given toilet bowls. Most of them had already started with their construction of their sanitary toilet. We took pictures of their comfort rooms, done or still under construction, to be submitted to our assigned sanitary inspector for the monitoring of the sanitation condition of the barangay. For the water problem in Bag-ong Dalaguete, we surveyed possible areas for establishing a deep well in purok 3 and purok 5 (these two puroks still does not have access to potable water). Also, we asked the people to save their PET bottles for their SODIS. For the waste problem in Bag-ong Dalaguete we also asked for possible areas of their puroks to which area we can designate a collection point for their waste. Each of the interviewed member of the family gave their suggestions and was listed down, to be later tackled by us, the students, and to be submitted to the barangay. With hypertension, each adult in the family were checked for their blood pressure. If the patients blood pressure is above 120/80mmHg, we would ask the patient to rest for a period of time and take again the blood pressure. If it is still above 120/80mmHg, we assess the patient status with regards to his/her medications if whether or not the patient is still taking the medications or had stopped. After that we gave them a reminder to go to our program for a mass bp taking and diagnosis.
With us, are tickets for our grand day assembly where we would present to the people of Bag-ong Dalaguete the improvements of the barangay based our initiatives as well as to have a fun time with games for both the adult and the children. A total of 3 days were given for the house to house survey. And all puroks were covered. After that we assessed the data and took note of the updates.
