On January 14, 2019, a Mothers' Class was conducted in the Barrio Hall of Barangay Bag-ong Dalaguete participated by 20 mothers and primary caregivers of children 0-59 months old. It was headed by the Student Doctors in coordination with the Municipal Nutrition Action Officers and the Barangay Nutrition Scholar. An interactive lecture was conducted with the topic on the First 1000 Days of Life. It was later followed by a cooking demonstration with the recipe of "Ginataang Monggo na may Dilis at Malunggay." It was an interactive demontration with step-by-step procedure and a taste test with the participants. The learning of the mothers and primary caregivers were assessed using pre-est and poet-test exam. there was a 26% increase in knowledge from 57% to 82%.
Proper infant and child care and feeding is important to ensure that children will achieve their maximum potentials and attain their dream. We believe that
improving the knowledge of mothers and primary caregivers about proper child care is vital to reach the goal of having healthy and well-nourished children who will one day pave the way of a good future of the community.
